Mumbai, August 7 - Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor is reportedly in talks to headline the Hindi remake of the Malayalam neo-noir psychological thriller film Mumbai Police, which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. The Rosshan Andrrews-directed film was a big box office hit and Prithviraj's performance was regarded as one of his career-best.
According to a peepingmoon.com report (now deleted), the rumored talks regarding the Hindi remake are in the advanced stage with Siddharth Roy Kapur's Roy Kapur Films bankrolling it. Shahid Kapoor is said to have given his verbal node and the paperwork will be done soon. Rosshan Andrrews will reportedly be directing the Hindi adaptation too.
The Mumbai Police remake is expected to go on floors in the first quarter of next year after Shahid completes filming for Dinesh Vijan's robot rom-com film co-starring Kriti Sanon. While the latter movie is yet to be announced, reports say it will commence shooting in October/November this year.
Mumbai Police revolves around a police officer investigating a murder while also suffering from partial memory loss due to an accident. Shahid will be seen stepping into the shoes of Prithviraj Sukumaran, who played a carefree, brash young officer who needs to retrace his past in order to unravel the mystery behind a crime he had been probing before losing his memory.
