Los Angeles, January 29 - Shah Rukh Khan's comeback on the big screen is being celebrated worldwide as his spy action thriller
Pathaan is having a dream run at the box office.
Siddharth Anand's directorial film is putting some sensational numbers in international markets and the biggest of them is North America where the movie is on the historic run. Despite the mid-week release, "Pathaan" grossed $9.50 million (77.50 crores) during the 5-day weekend, the highest for a Bollywood and second highest ever for an Indian film.
"Pathaan" opened with $1.49 million on Wednesday before grossing $1.11 million on Thursday and $1.85 million, $2.86 million, and $2.16 million on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday respectively. On Saturday, the movie scored the biggest single-day collection for a Bollywood film and the second biggest for an Indian flick after "Baahubali 2" ($3.50 million) in North America.
Meanwhile, "Pathaan" has beaten "Baahubali 2" in footfalls in a single day to create a new record for an Indian film. It scored more than $270K in admissions on Saturday. The total collection of "Pathaan" in North America is approx. $7.15 million (58 crores) after 4 days and with today's collection, it will become the 5th biggest Indian movie there.
The total overseas box office collection of "Pathaan" is mighty impressive with around $25.50 million (208 crores) in just five days. It has become the highest-grossing Indian film in Saudi Arabia and is set to become the first Indian flick to hit the $1 million mark there.
