Rohit Shetty Reveals Noble Reason Behind Starting Ranveer Singh's 'Cirkus' In The Pandemic

Mumbai, July 30 - Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is the name associated with Blockbuster cinema in the Bollywood film industry. The maverick filmmaker has never failed to amaze the audiences by making larger-than-life cinema which has been his biggest USP over the years and he continues to stick with that.

During the covid-19 pandemic, it was Shetty's "Sooryavanshi", which provided much-needed breath to the Hindi film industry by grossing 300 crores at the worldwide box office. It was ready to release in 2020 but thanks to the covid, the makers were forced to push postponed it, and the film was finally released during Diwali weekend in 2021.



Rohit Shetty's next film is comedy entertainer, "Cirkus", which is scheduled to release on Christmas this year. Shetty said that he always wanted to make this film, but he had a different reason to start this film in the pandemic.

The "Singham" director has often insisted that his technicians are his biggest strength but because of the pandemic, they were left with no choice but to sit home without any job. During a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Shetty said that he wanted to restart the cycle of filmmaking for his technicians so that they could earn their livelihood.

"Much like Sooryavanshi, Cirkus also has a history. It was the first film to get into the production stage. So many producers and directors visited our sets to see how we are shooting. This one is for my technicians", he added.

"Cirkus" is Rohit Shetty's first outright comedy film outside the Golmaal franchise. It also stars Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Murali Sharma, and Varun Sharma in key roles. Shetty has also produced the film under his banner Rohit Shetty Productions, in association with Reliance Entertainment and T-Series.
