Mumbai, September 7 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has turned down the boycott trend's effect on the films at the box office. The actor was promoting his upcoming film Brahmastra Part One: Shiva in the city along with Alia Bhatt and director Ayan Mukerji.
"Brahmastra" is the latest Bollywood film being targeted by the boycott gang and Ranbir was asked if this can affect their film. The actor gave a straightforward answer and said that films are getting failed at the box office because of the poor content, not the boycott calls.
Ranbir gave the example of his last film "Shamshera" which had tanked at the box office. He said that the period action drama film did not do well because the audiences didn't like it which was clearly visible from the word of mouth. In fact, "Shamshera" was called the worst film of his career.
Meanwhile, "Brahmastra" is registering a record advance booking and is on its way to take the biggest opening for a Bollywood movie post-pandemic. The movie, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy, is to release on September 9.
