Mumbai, October 19 - Earlier this year, it was reported that filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar would be making an action film with actor Farhan Akhtar in the lead role. While there is no official confirmation on the same yet, it is now reported that the movie is slated to go on floors in December this year and Akhtar's production house Excel Entertainment is backing it.
According to Peepingmoon, the makers have roped in the busy bee Rakul Preet Singh to play the female lead along with South Indian actor Jagapathi Babu, who will mark his Bollywood debut with this as the antagonist. The movie has reportedly been titled Pukar.
"Ashutosh Gowariker's film with Farhan Akhtar has been titled Pukar. It's a contemporary action film set in a forest and will see Akhtar playing the role of a forest ranger. South sensation Rakul Preet Singh has been roped in to play the female lead in this film. She will start shooting for it after completing Ronnie Screwvala's Chhatriwali that goes on floors shortly", a source close to the development told peeping moon.
Jagapathi Babu, who has been approached by Hindi filmmakers in the past on many occasions, will finally be marking his debut in Hindi with this film. Babu's role in Pukar is said to be a parallel lead alongside Akhtar. The report claims that he is excited about his Hindi debut and will join the sets from the very first schedule. He is currently filming for Prabhas starrer Salaar which is being directed by Prashanth Neel.
Legendary writer, Javed Akhtar will mark his comeback as a story and screenplay writer after 15 years with this film, which will be made on a huge scale and will have all the elements of action, drama, and emotions Javed Akhtar is widely known for.
