Mumbai, October 27 - Anubhav Sinha's next hard-hitting social drama film, "Bheed" gets a talented lead cast on board. The movie was recently announced with Rajkummar Rao as the lead male hero of the film. And now, the makers have confirmed Bhumi Pednekar as the female leading lady opposite Rao.
"Bheed" marks the second collaboration between Bhumi and Rao after the social comedy-drama film "Badhaai Do", which is yet to release. It is also the first time both the leading actors are teaming up with Anubhav Sinha, who is known for making groundbreaking films such as Article 15, Mulk, Thappad, Anek, among others.
"Bheed" will jointly be produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks. It will be shot across Lucknow and is expected to go on floors anytime post Diwali in November.
Bhumi said in a statement, "Being part of an Anubhav Sinha film is a matter of great honor and privilege. He shares my value system in believing that movies have the power to shift mindsets. As artists, the responsibility of telling such stories lies with us. This is a crackling subject and I can't wait to get on to the journey of this film".
Anubhav Sinha said, "Bhumi was the perfect choice for a film of this nature. She is an assured actress and a woman with a mind of her own. That’s the quality this character needs to have. I couldn’t have asked for a better cast. These are performers who not only shine every time they are on screen; they elevate the written word to create magic on the screen".
Meanwhile, Bhumi has three completed films in the pipeline, waiting for release. Junglee Pictures' "Badhaai Do", which serves as a spiritual sequel of the 2018 film Badhaai Ho, will be released soon. She also has Raksha Bandhan with Akshay Kumar and it will be released in August 2022. Then she also has Mr. Lele and Bhakshak in her kitty.
On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for the Digital release of Hum Do Hamare Do on Disney+Hotstar. Co-starring Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, and Ratna Pathak Shah, the movie will be released on October 29. Rao also has a Netflix film, Monica, O My Darling, and Hit: The First Case in the pipeline.
