Producers Hint At The Sequel To Shahid Kapoor's All-Time Blockbuster 'Kabir Singh'

Mumbai, May 26 - Producers Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani are looking to explore more of the character of Kabir Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor. The producers are currently enjoying the success of Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani-fronted Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which has given much-needed relief to the Hindi film industry.

Kabir Singh, which is the official remake of 2017's Telugu movie, Arjun Reddy, was a massive box office blockbuster upon its release in June 2019. It grossed over 370 crores worldwide and became an all-time blockbuster. The movie ended on a happy note with the reunion of Kabir Singh and Preeti (Kiara Advani), and the makers think that there is so much more to the character of Kabir Singh to turn it into a franchise.



During an interview with Pinkvilla, when asked about the projects which they think should be a franchise, Bhushan Kumar said, "I think, our film Kabir Singh can definitely be spun into a franchise. It's an iconic character and can be taken into a second part". Murad Khetani agrees, "Yes, the character is so popular that we should think of a story for him".

Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who directed the original movie, helmed the Hindi version too. In the movie, Shahid Kapoor played the titular role of a surgeon who spirals into self-destruction when his girlfriend, Preeti, played by Kiara Advani, marries someone else. The movie received critical acclaim.
