Mumbai, August 15 - Ek Tha Tiger completes 10 years today as the film was released on 15th August 2012, starring superstar Salman Khan who played the titular character. The character has become a household name after the blockbuster success and overall remains one of the most legendary characters of Indian cinema.

Ek Tha Tiger in 2012 took such an opening which can easily be touted as the greatest ever opening as the film managed to cross the previous record opener by around 45% margin. In the last 30 years, no film barring Krrish has come close to the level of opening of Ek Tha Tiger.



No doubt there are some extraordinary openers in the last 30 years such as War, Thugs Of Hindostan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Happy New Year, Dabangg, Bodyguard, Ghajini, Singh is King, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Border, Karan Arjun, and Khalnayak but what sets Ek Tha Tiger apart from these is the fact that Ek Tha Tiger collected almost 100% to its capacity that too in the multiplex era and on 12K to 15K shows. If you go all time then there are some openers like Qurbani, Shahenshah, and Shaan which took earth-shattering openings and are on the same level as Ek Tha Tiger but those days the film used to play on very limited numbers of cinemas.

Ek Tha Tiger became the biggest hit of 2012 and also the highest-grossing film. The next part of the franchise Tiger Zinda Hai was released on Xmas 2017 to a record-breaking nonholiday number. The film went on to score 2nd highest lifetime collections for outright Hindi films after Dangal and emerged as Salman Khan's biggest grosser. The film was overall 2nd highest grosser of 2017 after the mighty Baahubali2 though it was the highest grosser of the Bollywood Industry.

The next part of the much-loved franchise Tiger 3 is all set to hunt the box office on Eid 2023. The industry has pinned all hopes on this film to bring back the glory of the Hindi film industry as it is an established franchise with the reigning superstar and on top of that, the window is huge on Eid which is capable of giving a monster grosser.

Tiger 3 will also feature Emraan Hashmi along with Katrina Kaif and there will be an extended guest appearance of Shah Rukh Khan in and as Pathaan which is scheduled to release on 25th January 2023 and the character is touted to be the next spy character which will start the biggest universe of Indian cinema with country's biggest stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone among others.
