Mumbai, August 5, 2021: Farhan Akhtar's recently released "Toofan" on Amazon Prime Video and opened with mixed responses from the viewers. The actor is now gearing up for his next, which is said to be a contemporary action flick with director Ashutosh Gowariker.
Gowariker, who is known for making intense period dramas, is looking to embrace other genres. Recently, it was revealed that he was working on his next Hindi film for Akhtar's Excel Entertainment banner. The yet-untitled film is said to be set in a forest and will see Akhtar playing the role of a forest ranger, an officer charged with the patrolling and guarding of a forest.
The movie has been planned as a big-budget venture and will reportadly see another prominant Bollywood actor to play the villain. Farhan's father, the legendary Javed Akhtar himself is writing this film with a team of writers. The movie is expected to be announced soon and it will go on floors by the year-end.
Akhtar's film with Gowarikar was planned to roll out in the first half of 2021. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the movie couldn't go on floors. Meanwhile, Farhan also has Mahesh Mathai's Rakesh Sharma biopic that has been hanging in the air since its announcement in 2018.
