Box Office: Sooryavashi Storms Past Rs. 200 Crores At The Worldwide Box Office

Mumbai, November 14 - For the first time since "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior" in January 2020, a Bollywood film, "Sooryavanshi", has crossed ₹ 200 crores at the worldwide box office. The biggest Bollywood film after Ajay Devgn-fronted has given a new lease of life to the Hindi film industry that was hit really hard by the covid-19 pandemic.
"Sooryavanshi", which stars Akshay Kumar in the title role alongside Katrina Kaif as the female lead, reached the box office milestone after just 9 days of release. The film currently stands at ₹ 206.65 crores gross at the worldwide box office, including ₹ 162.65 crores at the India box office.
Rohit Shetty-directed witnessed a significant growth of 51.54% on the second Saturday as compared to the second Friday for a double-digit figure of ₹ 10.35 crores net. This takes the total India net collection for the film to ₹ 137.84 crores and makes it the sixth highest-grossing film for Akshay Kumar. It also becomes Akshay's 9th highest-grossing film at the worldwide box office.
"Sooryavanshi" is the continuation and is the 4th film in Shetty's cop universe. It also stars Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh as Singham and Simmba in the extended cameos. On the second Saturday, it got a major contribution from Mumbai, which is running with 50% occupancy in theaters, with ₹ 1.52 crores, followed by NCR with ₹ 1.15 crores.
The joint production of Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape of Good Films, will be aiming to cross ₹ 150 crores net at the domestic box office on the second Sunday (November 14). It had a great hold during the weekdays, and the makers will hope for it to continue in the coming days as well.
