Mumbai, January 26 - The Indian box office in 2023 started on a blockbuster note with back-to-back box office hits, led by South Indian films. The tide has turned in the last week of the month as Bollywood biggie
Pathaan has started ruling the domestic box office.
The Shah Rukh Khan-fronted has crossed 140 crores gross in just two days and set a new record for Hindi films. After the historic opening day, "Pathaan" went overdrive on its second day which also happens to be Republic Day with a gross collection in the range of 80 crores, which is unheard numbers.
The domestic box office on Republic Day was in full flow and it witnessed the biggest day of the year so far with total gross collection coming in the range of 100 crores. While "Pathaan" is singlehandedly ruling the day with a never-seen-before single-day collection, other films are also fairing well, taking the advantage of the big national holiday.
Darshan's Kannada movie "Kranti" is the second biggest film of the day with a gross collection expected to be in the range of 11 crores. Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" continues to score well and scored around 2.50 crores gross on its 16th day and remains the third biggest film of the day.
Other films, including "Thunivu", "Waltair Veerayya", and "Malikapuram", among others are expected to score around 7-8 crores gross today, for approx. 100-103 crores gross Republic Day.
