Los Angeles, October 2 - The Tamil movie is scripting history in the USA as filmmaker Mani Ratnam's dream project Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1
is going bonkers at the box office.
The epic period action drama film has been sensational so far and becomes the first Tamil movie to score three one million days at the USA box office. The movie scored $1.05 million on the premiere, followed by $1.09 million on Friday, and now, the reported gross collection on Saturday is $1.09 million. The total collection in the USA has reached $3.23 million (Rs. 26.37 cr.).
PS-1 has officially crossed Kamal Haasan's mega worldwide blockbuster Vikram
, Tamil's highest-grossing film of 2022 at the USA box office. "Vikram" had grossed around $2.9 Million in its entire run which is overtaken by PS-1 within three days.
Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, "PS-1" is now the third highest-grossing Kollywood movie of all time at the USA box office. It is expected to become the biggest grosser by the second weekend. Rajinikanth's "2.0" and "Kabali" are the top 2 Tamil films in the USA with approx. $5.10 million and $4.20 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan's Vikram Vedha
is also nearing the million-dollar mark in North America. The action thriller film has grossed $680K until Saturday (the final Saturday collection is yet to be reported). It is likely to breach $1 million by Sunday or Monday.
