Mumbai, June 24 - Kartik Aaryan's horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
is putting on a remarkable show at the box office despite the OTT release. The movie scored a fantastic 8.18 crores net and recorded the 7th biggest fifth week in Hindi of all time.
The Anees Bazmee-directed is also ruling the Netflix viewership as it was the number 1 Indian movie on the streamer last week. The film has earned a blockbuster status for its extraordinary box office run so far, and its 5th collection despite its OTT release has proved why it is a bonafide blockbuster.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani, BB2 has beaten the movies like "Badhaai Ho" (₹ 8 Cr), "Padmaavat" (₹ 7.54 Cr), "Baahubali" (₹ 6.09 Cr), and "Tiger Zinda Hai" (₹ 5.81 Cr) to claim the 7th spot in the 5th-week collection list in Hindi.
The movie, also starring Kiara Advani and Tabu, has so far scored a whopping ₹ 184.32 crores net over 35 days. At the overseas box office, the movie has grossed approx. 49 crores net, pushing the worldwide cume to a marvelous ₹ 265.5 crores. It is already the highest-grossing film of Kartik Aaryan's career.
BB2 is a standalone sequel to the classic hit "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" (2007) starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in the lead roles. The latest movie is set after the 18 years of the events of the first movie and follows Ruhaan Randhawa (Kartik), a fraud psychic who is brought in to deal with the return of Manjulika, a malevolent spirit hell-bent on revenge against the Thakur family.
