Yesterday on June 29, Akshay Kumar's Laxmmi Bomb was announced for the direct OTT release as Dinesy+Hotstar has acquired the horror-comedy along with 6 other movies. However, The announcement came as a big setback for the theater owners who were heavily banking on movies like Laxmmi Bomb, Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Sadak 2, and others to attract the audience post the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, the good thing for the theater owners is that Akshay Kumar's action movie Sooryavanshi
will have a theatrical release along with Ranveer Singh starrer 83
According to the renowned trade analyst Joginder Tuteja, Rohit Shetty directed Sooryavanshi will release on Diwali this year while 83 will hit the theaters later this year on the occasion of Christmas.
Sooryavanshi is an action film and it is the fourth installment of Rohit Shetty's Police Universe. Akshay Kumar playing DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad. His character was announced towards the end of Simmba that served as a character introduction of Sooryavanshi. The film is written by Yunus Sajawal and co-produced by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape of Good Films.
It stars Katrina Kaif opposite Akshay while Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Jackie Shroff, Nikitin Dheer, Javed Jaffrey also part of the movie. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles of Singham and Simmba from the franchise's previous films respectively.
Talking about 83, it is a sports drama film based on Team India's 1983 cricket world cup win. Ranveer Singh plays Kapil Dev who was captain of the team that won the title. It is directed by Kabir Khan and jointly produced by Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Deepika Padukone, and Sajid Nadiadwala. Apart from Ranveer, the film also stars Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar, and Amrita Puri in the prominent roles.
