Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Late Sushant Singh Rajput Win Big As Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2021 Announced

Delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic, the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2021 ceremony was finally held on Saturday to honor the talented artists for their outstanding contribution to the Indian cinema. Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone bagged the best actor's award in the star-studded ceremony for their acclaimed performances in notable movies 'Laxmii', and 'Chhapaak' respectively in Male and Female category.
Late Sushant Singh Rajput, who died by suicide last year, honored with the 'Best Actor' critics choice award for his performance in his last movie, 'Dil Bechara' while Kiara Advani claimed 'Best Actress' critics choice award for 'Guilty'. Both Dil Bechara and Guilty had a direct to digital release on Disney Plus Hotstar and Netflix respectively.
Among the other award winner, Ajay Devgn starrer, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior won the "Best Film" of 2020. Tanhaji was the highest grosser Indian film of 2020 as it earned over INR 360 crores worldwide. Anurag Basu won the 'Best Director' award for his film 'Ludo' which directly premiered on Netflix due to the covid-19 pandemic. South Korean film 'Parasite' which won multiple Oscars in the 92nd Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film, bagged the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the 'Best International Feature Film'.
In the absence of theatrical release, the OTT shows stole to the show in the pandemic year. Web series such as, 'Scam 1992', 'Aashram', 'Aarya', 'Special Ops' among others gained the maximum attention of the viewers. While 'Scam: 1992' won the 'Best Web Series' award, Sushmita Sen and Bobby Deol got the 'Best Actress and Actor' award for 'Aarya' and 'Aashram'.
