Tamil Nadu is one of the most literate states in India. The state's literacy rate is 80.33% in 2011, which is above the national average.

A survey conducted by the Industry body Assocham ranks Tamil Nadu top among Indian states with about 100% Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in primary and upper primary education.



The Teacher Eligibility Test, known as TET, is the minimum qualification required in India for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for Classes I to VIII. The test is mandatory for teaching jobs in Indian government schools.

There are two papers: Paper 1, for teachers of Classes I to V, and Paper 2 for Classes VI to VIII.

The TET is conducted both by the central and state governments of India. Most states conduct their own TET.

Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TN TRB) has released the admit card for Block Education Officer (BEO) recruitment exam 2020.

The BEO exam is computer based and candidates need to carry their admit cards to the examination centre or else they will be denied entry and won't be able to give the exam.
