Kaantha Day 7 Box Office Report: Dulquer Salmaan’s film wraps up Week 1 on a decent note; Check full breakdown

Kaantha, the period drama thriller starring Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati, has completed its first week at the box office. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the film garnered significant buzz prior to its release due to its unique 1950s Madras setting ,though it faced a mixed reception regarding its pacing.

The film opened on Friday (Nov 14) with a domestic net collection of ₹4.35 Cr, driven largely by a strong start in the Tamil market. Positive initial curiosity pushed the collections to their peak on Saturday, registering ₹5 Cr. However, mixed word-of-mouth regarding the second half affected the Sunday numbers, which dipped slightly to ₹4.5 Cr.

As is the case with most content-driven films, Kaantha faced a sharp decline on its first Monday, dropping by 60% to collect ₹1.8 Cr.Despite the drop, the movie displayed stability throughout the weekdays.This consistency suggests that a niche audience is still patronizing the film.

At the end of Week 1, the domestic net collection stands at ₹ 20.75 Cr. Adding the overseas total of ₹ 8.2 Cr, the film has crossed the ₹ 32.75 Cr mark worldwide. The second Friday will be the deciding factor in whether the film can achieve a "Hit" verdict or settle for "Average."
